When I first started metal detecting on the beaches of Oahu, I had a small, plastic, hand-held scoop that was only good in the dry sand and required me to drop to one knee to scoop.
Shortly thereafter, I bought a second-hand, short handle scoop made of aluminum and it worked OK until I moved to Thailand and took it metal detecting at a local reservoir with a clay bottom. After about 30 minutes the scoop was ruined.
I finally woke up and got a stainless steel scoop with a long handle which greatly increased my finds since I can now retrieve my finds much faster. If you are a detectorist that hunts in the water, get a Heptagon Beach Sand Scoop Garrett Metal Detecting Genuine Stainless Steel #2mm hole 10mm Scoop. It will be the only scoop you ever need to purchase.
